Glorious Accra Hearts of Oak after returning to action in the Ghana Premier League faced Accra Lions and picked a win over the newly promoted club.

Accra Lions again were drawn to Accra Hearts of Oak in the MTN FA cup and many predicted a revenge as few predicted a repeat for Accra Hearts of Oak who have already picked a win over the newly promoted side in the GPL.

Hearts of Oak had to play the game without their safest pair of hands, Richard Attah who gained a call up to the Ghana National team to represent Ghana at the AFCON tournament in Cameroon.

Accra Hearts of Oak showed no mercy on their city rivals in the MTN FA cup nor the Ghana Premier League and played with a full set featuring Richmond Ayi in post for the Phobians.

The game was keenly contested by the Continental Club Masters maintained their composure and blasted the new boys in the GPL away as Salifu Ibrahim rocketed one into the net of the visitors net.

The game from then became a one side affair as Accra Lions took the game to Accra Hearts of Oak calling Richmond Ayi to work.

The dormant Phobian goalkeeper was up to the task as he ensured he kept his side in the lead from the start till the end of the game.

Salifu’s goal was enough to see Accra Hearts of Oak sail through to the next stages of the MTN FA Cup as the shot stopper of Accra Hearts of Oak was adjudged the ‘MOTM’ after the final whistle.
