Daniel Afriyie Barnieh has gradually become the darling boy of Accra Hearts of Oak after his contribution to the club winning the Ghana Premier League and the MTN FA Cup.
Afriyie made the squad for the 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations and again led Ghana to win the tournament for the first time in 12years, since winning in 2009. On the 6th of March 2021, during the final, he scored a brace, one in each half to lead Ghana to a 2–0 victory and emerge as the African U-20 Champions for the 4th time in the country’s history.
At the 46th edition of the MTN SWAG night, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh was nominated alongside the following players in the local league,
Diawusie Taylor of Karela United and Ishmael Ganiu of Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
As many saw the nomination to be keen to contest, many also looked at the achievements of each individual and their contribution to their various teams.
On the night of the awards, Glorious Accra Hearts of Oak player Daniel Afriyie Barnieh was crowned the ‘Men Homebase Footballer of the year.
