Fc Barcelona on their road to reshaping the team haven’t had it easy this season after sacking former club legend Ronald Koeman for another in Xavi Hernandez.

Fc Barca hosted Elche at the Camp Nou in the Spanish Laliga match week-17 and it almost followed their current pattern.

Xavi who is trying to build his team with the young Fc Barca squad had to dig deep to pick maximum points at home after stubborn Elche did everything possible to torment their hosts.

Having known Fc Barca for their possessive play, it was no news seeing them control the game right from the start but this time they were clinical in front of goal and in the 16th minute of the first half, Ferran Jutgla gave Barca the opening.

Three (3) minutes after Jutgla’s opener, Pablo Gavira who has recently been likened to Messi added the second for Fc Barcelona.

Xavi could not breathe on the touchline with a two goal lead against Elche at the Camp Nou and hoped for no surprises.

The technical team of Elche sure had a positive pep talk during the break as the visitors came into the second half stronger and more precise going forward.

As shocking as it may sound against Barcelona, Elche scored two successive goals in the 62nd and 63rd minutes to pull parity at the Camp Nou with Tete Morente and Pere Milla recording their names on the score sheets for Elche.

It looked as though Fc Barca was going to settle for another draw until a little Messi prodigy Gavira’s brilliance saw him drilling in a sweet pass for Nico Gonzalez to connect for the third goal for Fc Barcelona in the 85th minute.

Elche were now out of steam and could not fight back as Fc Barca swooped all three needed points on their way to redemption.
