The Afghan national cricket team defeated Netherlands in the third match of their One Day International (ODI) Series on Tuesday, January 25. The three-match series, which kicked off in Qatar on Friday ended with Afghanistan winning all the matches to become champions.

Afghanistan bat first in the last match and set a target of 255 runs for Netherlands, Najib Zadran top-scored 71 runs, Riaz Hassan 50 in his first international match and Rahmat Shah did 48.

But all the Netherlands’ players were out for 179 runs and Afghanistan won. 

Among the Afghan bowlers, Qais Ahmad took three wickets and Rashid Khan, Mujeeb-ur-Rehman, Fazal Haq Farooqi and Azmatullah Omarzai took one wicket each. It was also the first one-day international for Qais Ahmad and Fazal Haq Farooqi.

These matches are the qualifiers for the 2023 World Cup. Each win has 10 points and Afghanistan gained 30 points by winning these three matches. Afghanistan had previously won three such matches against Ireland.

Afghanistan have about 24 such matches and if they win 60% of these matches, they may go straight to the 2023 World Cup.

Afghanistan have series with Pakistan, India, Australia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, the exact dates are unknown.
