Former Newcastle and Ghana Black Stars winger Christian Atsu has waded into the ‘Its coming home’ conversation as Ghana readies itself for the AFCON 2021 in Cameroon.
The Ghana Black Stars who have been waiting for 40years to lay hands on the AFCON trophy are set to start another journey towards glory in a group including Morocco, Gabon and Comoros.
Christian Atsu who has been snubbed from national duty for sometime now added,
“I have been watching the training of the team keenly and I am confident they will win the trophy this season. Looking at out squad depth and having a coach who has been to the tournament before is a boost for the players.
All the team needs is all the necessary support they can get to make this trophy drought end in Cameroon. Losing in a friendly match doesn’t mean you are not a good side but rather it is always a good exercise for the team and also the coach because it is the only time they can used to access who they can all on during the actual tournament.
I have been with the team before, I can vouch for the team and assure Ghanaians to just support the Black Stars and we will have the AFCON trophy in Ghana.”
Many have lashed at his exuberant believe saying the team needs to be patriotic and ready to make history for themselves as that will compel them to break the trophy drought for the country.
