After images of a section of the El-Wak Sports Stadium made waves on social media, Legon Cities Communications Division has stated categorically that the portion been circulated on the various social media platforms has been closed since they moved to El-Wak as their home grounds and would only be opened for use after refurbishment.

“Our attention has been drawn to pictures being circulated on Social Media regarding the readiness of the El-Wak Sports Stadium to host our Premier League encounter against Accra Hearts of Oak on Saturday, February, 26th 2022.

The part of the stadium, specifically behind the goal post, has been closed since we moved our home games to the El-Wak Sports Stadium to make room for refurbishment. This was part of the conditions stated in the approval of the facility by the Club Licensing Board and would only be operational when the refurbishment exercise is complete.

We want to assure all and sundry that the necessary preventive measures  would be taken to ensure that nobody accesses this part of the stadium on matchday.
