The Executive Committee of the Confederation Africaine de Football (“CAF”), held a virtual meeting Wednesday afternoon, 23 March 2022 chaired by President Dr Patrice Motsepe.

The Executive Committee discussed the upcoming competitions including this weekend’s FIFA World Cup 2022™ qualifiers. President Motsepe confirmed that Video Assistant Referee (VAR) will be used at all the African qualifier matches between 25 and 29 March 2022.

The Executive Committee received reports and updates from the CAF inspection delegations who visited countries that will host TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2022 Morocco, TotalEnergies CHAN Algeria 2023 and TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023.

CAF General Secretary Veron Mosengo-Omba, who visited Cote d’Ivoire to meet government and local authorities, gave an update on the preparations for TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023. The Executive Committee noted the progress and will continue to engage the hosts on a number of pending matters.

CAF will establish a satellite office in Cote d’Ivoire that will work closely with the LOC and the government.

CAF Vice President and President of TotalEnergies CHAN 2023 in Algeria Seidou Mbombo Njoya gave an update on the preparations for the competition that will be in January/ February 2023.

The CAF Executive Committee also received a status update on upcoming competitions and the countries that have submitted bids to host the competitions.

CAF will make an announcement on the hosts and dates in due course.
