Berkane coach Florent Ibenge reacted to the draw for the quarter-finals of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup which will pit his club against Al Masry of Egypt.
For the Congolese technician, it will be a question of doing everything to reach for the next objective of the club, the semi-finals stage.
“It’s a tough game ahead of us. It’s an African Cup quarter-final match. Obviously, we inherited the representative of the Egyptian championship. It will not be an easy match,” says the former AS Vita Club coach.
To reach this stage of the competition, Berkane had to wait until the last day of the group stage and a 1-0 victory over ASEC Mimosas.
“When we come out of the group stage as we did in the last minutes, we don’t want to stop there. We want to fight with all our weapons to reach the semi-finals. The goal is to be in the semi-finals,” he said.
Coach Ibenge thinks he holds the key to getting out of the Egyptian trap in sight.
“Everything will surely happen in the return match at home”, he announces. “So we will have to not overuse the first leg by playing all our chances ».
RS Berkane face Al Masry in the first leg in Egypt on April 17 before setting the return leg a week later in Morocco.
