The Rugby League Federation Ghana paid a working visit to the Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Mustapha Ussif on Tuesday, April 18, 2022.
The visit was to inform him about the activities of the Federation and its recent partnership with Salford Red Devils RLC.
The Rugby League Federation Ghana has signed an agreement with Salford Red Devils (a UK based Super League Club) to assist with the development of coaches, players and the sport in Ghana.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Alex Appiah Mensah (Representative, Salford Red Devils RLC) in his submission, appealed to the Minister and his ministry to support this partnership to grow Rugby League in Ghana.
General Manager of the Federation, Jafaru Awudu Mustapha, gave a brief history about the sport, how it differs from other sports and also touched on the upcoming match against Oxford University Rugby League in July and the hosting of the Middle East Africa Championship from September 27- October 3, 2022.
The Minister, Hon Ussif Mustapha, in his response assured the delegation of his willingness to strengthen and promote Ghana sports and Rugby League in particular. He went further to applaud the Federation for a good job done and the initiative by Salford Red Devils RLC to partner with the Rugby League Federation Ghana.
Present at the meeting were the Honourable Minister for Youths and Sports Hon. Ussif Mustapha, Mr Alex Appiah Mensah (Salford Red Devils Representative) who also doubled as Chairman of Ghana Union of Greater Manchester, Jafaru Awudu Mustapha (General Manager Rugby Federation Ghana), Jamaludeen Abdullah (Executive Assistant to the Minister) and Mr Ernest Ampong (Office of the President).
