Senegal women’s national team are returning to the TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after 10 years and will aim for good participation in Morocco in July with final camp preparations scheduled for Turkey.
Following its Executive Committee on Tuesday 10 May, the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) confirmed the team’s preparation schedules will continue with the second phase in boarding school on May 9, at Youssoupha Ndiaye Center of Excellence in Guéréo. They are scheduled to play a friendly match next week against Guinea Bissau in Ziguinchor in southern Senegal.
“We have decided to decentralize the matches of our national teams and the Lionesses will host Guinea Bissau in Ziguinchor,” said Senegalese football body’s spokesman Seydou Sane.
In the aftermath, the Senegalese will travel to Turkey where they will wrap up their preparations with three friendly matches.
The Teranga Lionesses started their preparation on April 25 with a boarding school with 30 players which ended on May 1, with one expatriate, Dieynaba Ndaw from Duke University in the USA.
For the second training camp scheduled from May 9 to 13, the Senegal coach Mame Moussa called a group of 30 players.
The expatriates who play mainly in France are still absent from the training courses for not having yet completed their championships in the European nation.
Senegal will play at their second TotalEnergies 2022 WAFCON, holding from July 2 to 23 and are drawn in Group A alongside Uganda, Burkina Faso and hosts Morocco.
