The Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has revealed that the Ghana Football Association and the Government of Ghana made a mind-blowing budget for the 2023 AFCON.
The MP disclosed that both parties (GFA and the Government) agreed on $8.5m for the AFCON 2023 ongoing in Ivory Coast.
The Ghana Football Association and the Ministry for Sports led by Mustapha Yussif failed to reveal the actual budget they were taking to the 2023 AFCON which led to many Ghanaians complaining about the incompetencies of the Ghana Football Association and the Sports Ministry.
On his X, formerly Twitter wall, the MP disclosed the secret.
“The secret is out; The wait is over— GOVT & GFA agreed on a BLACK STARS AFCON budget of an astonishing US$8.5MILLION (GHS105MILLION), “revealed the North Tongu MP, Okudzeto.
“I promised in my publication last week on the staggering GHS27.9million taxpayer’s money spent on the Black Stars between 2022 and 2023, that I shall subsequently, in the supreme national interest, share further information on financials relating specifically to the AFCON tournament in Côte d’Ivoire — I intend to keep that promise today”, added Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
Ghanaians are furious with Ghana Football Association and the Sports Ministry for the mismanagement of Ghana’s sports as all aspect is nothing to write home about.
Black Stars have exited the group stage of the last two AFCONs.
