Twelve nations from the Southern African region of the continent are gearing themselves up for the annual COSAFA Cup set to take place in South Africa between 27 June – 07 July.
Following the official draw of the competition was conducted in Johannesburg on Friday, 14 June where the teams were drawn into the exciting three groups of four ahead of the two-week competition.
This year marks the 23rd edition of the regional competition and will see reigning champions; Zambia looking to defend their title and extend their record as the team with the most COSAFA titles.
With seven titles to their name, Zambia will also aim to become the first team to win three COSAFA Cup titles in a row in the history of the competition.
Other nations with impressive COSAFA Cup titles include Zimbabwe (6), South Africa (5), Angola (3).
Tournament hosts, South Africa are drawn in Group A with Mozambique, Eswatini and Botswana, while the reigning champions, Zambia take on Lesotho, Zimbabwe and a fourth team that is yet to be confirmed.
Angola occupy the last group where they will be facing the high in confidence, Namibia as well as islanders, Comoros and Seychelles.
The official host venue of the competition will be announced in due course.
