Vice President of the Republic of Ghana H.E Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia has visited the Black Stars at the team hotel in Kumasi ahead of the FIFA World Cup qualifier against Central African Republic.

The Vice President was in the company of Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei Mensah, President of the Ghana Football Association Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, Vice President of the Ghana Football Association Mark Addo, Youth and Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif (Hon.), National Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, the Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya Sarah Adwoa Sarfo, Bernard Antwi-Bosiako, NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Director General of the National Lottery Authority Sammi Awuku and Board Chairman of the National Sports Authority Seth Pwuoyun amongst others.

‘’I am honored and privileged to have the opportunity to pass by this morning to say hello and to wish you the very best for tonight on behalf of myself and the President of the Republic (Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo) and all Ghanaians to say we are solidly behind you’’ H.E Dr. Alhaji Bawumia said.

‘’The last time you were playing Mali, we were in a cabinet meeting and the meeting was completely disrupted because nobody was paying attention. People were going out of the meeting and bringing in the latest score so after a while, the President said we should suspend the meeting and come back later and so we were so happy when you won. I want to congratulate you on your win’’.

‘’Let me say that I have the highest respect for what you do as footballers and what you do for this country. The skill level for you, the dedication, and the commitment that is required for you to get to this stage, sometimes we forget what it takes. We just want to say all the best tonight”.

‘’We really appreciate you. The red, gold, green of the country and the Black Star is fully behind you and we are going to pray for you and support you to beat Central African Republic. Remember that you beat them the last time in the African qualifiers so beat them again for us and lets move forward ’’ the Vice President added.

Ghana will take on the Central Africans in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier at 7pm at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Monday, June 10, 2024.
