Miss Wendy Naa Deide Sampah, founder and CEO of the Wendy Foundation has appealed to Ghanaians to support para athletes to realise their dreams in sports.
Speaking to a section of the athletes and media in Accra, she said sports can change lives, so she urged disabled people to be determined to succeed, and come out of the streets to train in sports.
“We have many sporting disciplines, and as we all know disability is not is an impediment, you can become champions in Tennis, Soccer, Athletics or any other sport that you love” she said.
Miss Sampah who is a media practitioner and loves to take photos and produce sports shows at HSTV said she loves to see people using their talent and skills to achieve.
Also a guest presenter at Omashi Radio / TV, she said the media has a big role to play in promoting sports and inspired them to do more for all sports.
She commended the national amputee football team, the Black Challenge for winning the African Cup on three occasions.
She also hailed Mr. Samson Deen, President of Ghana and Africa Paralympic Committees for his support and motivation to para athletes.
Miss Sampah who established the Foundation in February this year wished the Black Challenge more victories, especially when they represent Ghana at the World Cup in 2026.
Meanwhile at the time of filing this report, some Ghanaian para athletes have qualified for the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris, as qualifications still go on. They include, Zinabu Issah, Tahiru Mohammed, Stephen Obeng, Patricia Nyamekye and four Wheelchair Tennis Players.
