The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has lauded the country’s Members of Parliament (MPs) for investing directly into Ghana football.
A number of Ghanaian Parliamentarians have direct interest in football as they own clubs across various levels (divisions) of Ghana Football.
The Honourable Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, Member of Parliament for Sunyani West, is the owner of Premier League Club and 2023-24 MTN FA Cup Champions, Nsoatreman FC, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu (MP, Tamale South constituency) owns Steadfast FC, Hon. Ameyaw Kyeremeh (Sunyani East constituency) is the owner of Baffour Soccer Academy and Hon. Peter Amewu (Hohoe constituency) is the President of Hohoe United.
President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku lauded the MPs and others who are investing heavily in the upliftment of the game in Ghana.
“I want to commend and thank MPs who are directly investing in football. It is heart-warming to see that a lot more are joining the effort to give hope to footballers across the length and breadth of the country.” he said
The President made these remarks at the GFA’s Meet-the-Press event held in Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Football Region on Friday, 9th August, 2024. The ‘Meet The Press’ Series aims to enhance the relationship that exists between the Football Association and the Brong Ahafo Region, in particular, and the Ghanaian media, in general.
He, earlier on, held a meeting with the leadership of the Brong Ahafo Regional Football Association on Friday August 9, 2024 and will continue his engagement with a meeting with Premier, Women and Division One League Clubs on Saturday, August 10, 2024, scheduled for 11am local time.
