Vincent Torgah emerged victorious at the 2024 West Coast PGA Championship, held at the Celebrity Golf Club in Sakumono.
The tournament, marked by challenging windy weather and persistent rain, saw Torgah display remarkable skill and determination to secure the title.
The three-day event, which commenced on August 21, featured fifty golfers, including forty-two regular professionals, twelve seniors, and three ladies. Despite the adverse weather conditions, Torgah maintained his composure, finishing with scores of 71, 69, and 71, to claim the top spot.
Torgah faced stiff competition from seasoned golfers such as Alfred Kwame of Achimota Golf Club, E.K. Owusu, J. Klah, V. Coffie, Francis Torgah, and Kojo Barnini. However, his consistency throughout the tournament ensured his triumph, marking his third win in the series ahead of the main tournament scheduled for November.
Speaking to the media after receiving his winner’s cheque, an elated Torgah acknowledged the tournament’s difficulty due to the challenging course conditions and inclement weather. He also highlighted the valuable lessons learned, expressing hope to build on his performance in the upcoming PGA playoffs.
Alfred Kwame secured second place with scores of 71, 71, and 72, while E.K. Owusu took third, finishing with a total score of 216 over three days. J. Klah and V. Coffie rounded out the top five.
In the senior category, Emos Korblah claimed victory after two days of play, finishing with a score of 147. He edged out Robert Degbe and Teye Lartey of Center of the World Golf Club, who took second and third places, respectively.
Jessica Tei of Achimota Golf Club took the top spot in the Ladies category, beating competitors Mercy Werner and Felicity Gyeabour over the two-day competition.
