Former Chairperson of the Women’s Commission of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Madam Elizabeth King has congratulated her colleague. Madam Gloria Commodore alias Mama G, President of Women In Sports Association (WISA) for her wonderful vision and contribution to the lives of outstanding sports women in Ghana for the past decade.

She said the WISA is an adorable organisation which is performing an important function for the Women’s Commission as stipulated by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) because they have taken the responsibility to encourage and honour sports women and talented girls who excel in their various disciplines.

According to Madam King, Vice President of the Ghana Hockey Association, they have supported WISA to recognise and reward over 350 personalities and organisations for the past ten years and feel proud of the great woman.

She spearheaded the presentation of a special citation signed by herself and cake to Madam Commodore last Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium, media centre.

The presentation was made by Madam Angela Ocran, former sports director at CEPS.

She also noted that the president of WISA ought to be celebrated because she has imparted on the lives of many people.

” We are proud of Mama G and commend her for her excellent work and passion for giving back to society,  we pray for strength and more wisdom,  that Ghana Sports would be better with such philanthropic people” she told Yours Truly.

Nii Dr. Adote Dzata I, former president of Ghana Kickboxing Association who was present thanked God for the life of Mama G and urged sports people to be disciplined and focus to realise their dreams and goals.

He stressed that the WISA Achievers Awards is a great concept which should be continued and organised in a grand style.

The Shipi of Sempe Traditional Area, Mankralo of Sempe Sakaman and Gyasehene of Akim Asuboa expressed that sports plays a big role in the development of a nation and endorses that sports men and women should be treated well so that they will perform with their best abilities.

Meanwhile, Naa Dzata, wife of Nii Dr. Dzata has promised to support the 11th WISA Awards.

She said the good project which is encouraging many people must be continued.

She called on companies who love to see Ghanaians excelling in sports to come on board to maintain the WISA Awards.

Madam Gloria Commodore has another outfit named Retired Sports Women Association of Ghana (RESWAG.), she urged them to show more love and unite to achieve the common goal of helping others.

Her final awards ceremony was very exciting but emotional with mixed feelings of guests, however there is hope that the awards will continue because it is very important.

In another development. HRH Nii Kojo Ashiefie Papanyira I aka Ben Nunoo Mensah. President of the GOC has acknowledged the services of Mama G and urged all women groups in sports to come together and plan on sustaining the WISA Awards.
