Ghanaian boxer Richmond Nii Ashalley Ashelley has been commended for his marvelous and brave performance against former amateur star, Joseph Commey last Sunday on the Box Office bill for the UBO Africa Lightweight title belt.
The bout took place at the Bukom Boxing Arena on Sunday November 24, and many boxing analysts and pundits have labelled it as one of the most competitive bouts.
Although Ashelley lost on the cards of the judges, his performance was very good.
According to one of his coaches, Augustus Dodoo aka ‘One Life’, they came in to surprise the former Commonwealth Games Silver and African Games gold medalist.
“We did our best to win, but I think Commey was slightly ahead and we have no problem with the results, so far as Ghanaian boxing fans have seen what we can do” he told Yours Truly.
Ashelley trains under Coach T T and One Life who have been motivated by his display to teach him more tricks in the game.
“He was a bit raw on the night at the arena, but we hope to sharpen him for bigger opportunities.
Richmond Ashelley is managed by Von Nii Otoe Cofie of 36 Boxing and Accra Live fame.
