Young pugilist, Amadu Mohammed who was named the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Boxer of the Year 2024 has disclosed that his best is yet to come and he is ready to do more to put the name of his country high.
Speaking to Yours Truly at the 49th SWAG Awards Night held at the Accra International Conference Center, he said the Award will inspire him to perform better at the next World Championships and 2026 Commonwealth Games.
“I deserve to win this prestigious award because me and my team really worked hard in the past year. I was the only African who went to the Quarter Finals at the World Championships and I also won Gold at the 13th African Games, so I deserve to win the Best Boxer Award, I thank my trainer, Gabriel Allotey aka Coach Zico and all my colleagues at the Sea Viw Boxing Club at James Town” he expressed.
He thanked the SWAG members for the honour and recognition as well as all media guys who report on boxing for exposing him.
Amadu Mohammed dedicated the award to his fans and manager who have motivated him to reach his present status.
He also thanked the Black Bombers coaches and team mates, especially those who joined him to receive the award.
