In a historic election held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, on Friday, March 7, 2025, Ms. Rafatu Inusah, Director of the Ghana Rugby Football Union, was elected as the head of Women’s Rugby at the inaugural Union of West African Rugby Federations. This milestone marks a significant step forward for women’s rugby in West Africa.
Ms. Inusah took to social media to express her gratitude, stating, “I am humbled for this opportunity to serve on the board of Union of West Africa Federations. Together, we shall help change the narrative in West Africa.” She also saluted the members who made her election possible and called on women to come together to lift the spirits of the game of rugby.
The inaugural Union of West African Rugby Federations brings together rugby union presidents from across West Africa, including Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeria, Mali, Burkina Faso, Benin, Togo, Ghana, Niger Republic, and Senegal. This united front aims to drive development, foster talent, and elevate rugby to new heights in West Africa.
