Mr. Mohamed Mouktabil President of the Royal Morocco Karate Do Federation has set his eyes on leading the continent at the next Elective Congress.

Mr. Mouktabil who is credited with the transformation of Karate Do in Morocco is vying for the Presidency of the Confederation of Africa Karate Do, when they gather in Nigeria on July 23, 2025 for the elective congress.

Speaking to sportnetghana correspondent Regina Amartey, Mr. Mouktabil said he was looking forward to winning the elections to lead the continent.

He said, under his leadership he would strive to have stronger national federations who would help in talent identification and grooming for the continent.

According to Mr. Mouktabil, the elections was originally scheduled for Casablanca, Morocco but had to be shifted to Nigeria, adding that he was prepared to win no matter the venue.

He said his leadership would seek to build a very strong team for the continent for major international events such as the World Karate-Do Championships.

Mr. Mouktabil, who is the current Vice President was worried that, the sport was dominated by Africans from Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria adding that it was time to make it stronger in the sub-Saharan part of the continent.

He said the number of blacks in the sport were few.

“It is difficult to see many blacks doing Karate Do. Anytime you see a black performing, they are students studying in Europe or Asia.

“We need to develop talents across the continent. That would give the continent a strong representation at the world level.

“This is going to be my vision for the continent when I take over as President of the Federation” he stated.

Mr. Mouktabil said, he would also take a look at the development of referees in the sport as well as coaches.

According to Mr. Mouktabil these two important component of the sport would help in its development on the continent.
