Brandon Thomas-Asante has opened up on his frustration after being ruled out of the Black Stars squad for the March international window due to injury.

The Coventry City forward picked up a knock during his club’s recent fixture, forcing him to withdraw from the national team camp in Austria ahead of friendly matches against Austria and Germany.

Reacting to the setback, Thomas-Asante admitted the situation has been difficult to accept, especially given the pride he takes in representing his country.

“It’s frustrating to miss out on camp with the team, which is always an honour I hold highly,” he said.

The striker explained that the decision to pull out was reached after discussions between Ghana’s medical staff and his club, with a focus on ensuring he remains fit for the crucial period ahead.

“Upon collaborative advice of both Ghana and Coventry, I’ll focus on maintaining fitness for an important few months for both club and country,” he stated.

His absence comes as a setback for the Black Stars, who are using the international friendlies as part of their preparations for upcoming major competitions, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

For Thomas-Asante, attention now shifts to recovery and regaining full fitness, with hopes of returning stronger to contribute to both club and country in the months ahead.
