In line with its CAF Club Licensing Regulatory Framework, the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has officially unveiled the list of women’s football clubs that are licensed and eligible to compete in the CAF Women’s Champions League 2024 edition.
Ahead of the official draw of the CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers set to take place on Wednesday, 24 July at the CAF Headquarters in Cairo, the list of 38 women’s football clubs that have successfully completed and met all CAF Club Licensing System requirements have been officially confirmed.
Before the granting of a license, the following elements are considered at each club: Sporting, Infrastructure, Personnel and Administrative, Legal, and Financial. This forms part of CAF’s key objective improving the administrative standard of club football in Africa.
For club licensing 2024/25 cycle, CAF has consolidated the use of the CAF Club Licensing Online Platform (CLOP) which was also set as mandatory to all CAF Member Associations to process applications for the clubs intending to participate in the CAF Women´s Champions League.
The CAF Club Licensing Online Platform (CLOP) is an electronic tool system designed to manage the licensing process and stadium inspections for continental and domestic competitions.
For the upcoming CAF Women’s Champions League season, 38 clubs have completed the process on the CLOP and qualified to be engaged for the Qualifiers of the competition
In line with its framework for CAF Interclub competitions, CAF earlier this month also confirmed the successful implementation of the mandatory Club Licensing System for the CAF Interclub Men’s competitions in both the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.

Confirming the list of licensed clubs, CAF Head of Professional Football, Muhammad Sidat said: “This confirms yet another important milestone for women’s football in Africa. With the completion of the Club Licensing procedure 2024/25 for women’s teams through the CLOP, we are making great strides in ensuring that both men and women’s football in Africa continues to not only grow on the field of play but equally so in their administration and management.”
The objectives of the CAF Club Licensing:
Promoting and improving of the quality and the level of all football aspects in Africa;
· Ensuring that clubs have the appropriate infrastructure, knowledge and application in respect of management and organization;
· Adapting and improving the clubs sporting infrastructure;
· Improving the economic and financial capacity of the clubs, through proper corporate governance and control;
· Ensuring and guaranteeing the continuity of the international competitions of clubs during the season;
· Allowing the parallel development and comparison amongst clubs by ensuring the necessary compliance in terms of financial, sporting, legal, administrative and infrastructure criteria.
