The Appeal Board of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released its final verdict regarding the disciplinary cases involving the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF) and midfielder Ismaël Saibari.

The ruling follows a series of appeals lodged by FRMF against initial sanctions involving player misconduct and stadium security failures.

By the decision on Tuesday, March 17, the Teranga Lions are declared losers of the match with the result given as 3-0 in favour of the hosts.

In a significant win for Ismaël Saibari, the Appeal Board partially upheld his appeal.

While the Board confirmed that Saibari committed misconduct—violating Articles 82 and 83(1) of the CAF Disciplinary Code—his original punishment was heavily reduced.

The Board amended his match suspension to two official CAF matches, with one of those matches now suspended.

Most notably, the $100,000 fine previously imposed on the player has been completely set aside.

The FRMF also saw a reduction in several financial penalties related to match-day conduct.

The fine regarding the use of lasers by spectators was partially upheld and reduced to $10,000.

Not all appeals were successful, however.

By the statement issued by CAF, the Board dismissed the FRMF’s challenge regarding “interference around the OFR/VAR review area.”

Consequently, the substantial $100,000 fine for this specific violation remains in place.

The Board concluded the ruling by dismissing all other motions and prayers for relief, bringing an end to this disciplinary chapter for the Moroccan national team.
