Otto Addo has admitted uncertainty over resolving Ghana’s long-standing right-back concerns ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, acknowledging the challenge of finding a reliable option in time.
Speaking before the Black Stars’ friendly against Germany, the coach revealed that despite ongoing assessments, he is not convinced a definitive solution will emerge before the tournament.
“We have two more months to look (for a new right back). I do not think we will find (a right back before the World Cup.)”
His remarks come as a surprise to many, especially following the recent introduction of Marvin Senaya, who made his debut in the team’s previous outing.
However, Addo emphasized that the technical team will continue monitoring available options, both within the current squad and beyond, before making a final decision.
“I think on our database, and also myself in my head, I know all the Ghanaian players who are possible (right back options) who have the strength and quality. We will look at their form and their club, but also the little training we do here.”
With the World Cup fast approaching, Addo faces a pressing tactical dilemma as he looks to stabilize a key area of the team while maintaining overall balance in the squad.
