Former Ghana Premier League champions FC Samartex have snatched a vital 2-1 away win over Asante Kotoko.
It was a continuation of a Matchday 28 game, which was rained off after the first half on Monday.
Restarting at 9:00am on Tuesday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, the match recorded its first goal after just 10 minutes when the Timber Giants drew first blood.
Christian Agyenim Boateng’s powerful header from inside the penalty area beat Dari Aziz Haruna in goal for the home side.
Substitute Emmanuel Mamah made it 2-0 with seven minutes to go.
A penalty awarded the Porcupine Warriors in injury time was missed by captain Samba O’Neil but striker Albert Amoah made sure the rebound counted as he tapped home the consolation.
The loss sees Asante Kotoko’s title hopes shattered as they stay 4th on the log with 43 points, eight behind leaders Bibiani Goldstars SC.
FC Samartex, on the other hand, move up to 7th from the 12th position.
They will play Berekum Chelsea in their next game at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena in Samreboi.
Asante Kotoko travel away to Medeama SC in their next fixture.
