Falconets head coach Moses Aduku has challenged his players to improve their early-game efficiency as Nigeria seek qualification for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.
The Nigerian girls face Malawi on Saturday at the Bingu National Stadium in the return leg of their final qualifying fixture.
Nigeria hold a 2-0 lead from the first leg in Ikenne-Remo, but Aduku insists his team must remain focused throughout the contest.
According to the coach, the technical crew has reviewed recent performances and identified areas needing improvement, especially in converting chances earlier in matches.
The Falconets have shown strong second-half displays in recent games, but Aduku revealed that training sessions have concentrated on improving attacking coordination and defensive organisation from the opening minutes.
“Our preparations have been very intense because we know what is at stake. We want the players to maintain concentration and intensity throughout the game,” he said.
Nigeria’s delegation arrived in Malawi on Wednesday ahead of the decisive encounter.
The Falconets reached the final qualifying round after eliminating Rwanda 5-0 on aggregate before overcoming Senegal 3-1 across two legs.
Victory or even a narrow defeat on Saturday would secure Nigeria’s place at the Poland 2026 tournament and preserve their record of appearing at every FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.
