Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has announced a 28-man squad for Ghana’s World Cup preparation camp and the upcoming international friendly against Wales in Cardiff, with the major highlight being the long-awaited return of Baba Abdul Rahman to the national team.

The squad, made up of five goalkeepers, nine defenders, seven midfielders, and seven attackers, officially opened camp on Monday, May 25, 2026, and held its first training session at Dragon Park in Cardiff ahead of the friendly encounter on June 2.

Much of the attention has centred on Baba Rahman, who earns a recall to the Black Stars for the first time since September 2023 after an impressive campaign with PAOK. The experienced left-back, formerly of Chelsea, enjoyed a strong season in Greece, making 35 appearances while contributing three goals and three assists in all competitions.

Also making a significant return is Ernest Nuamah. The Olympique Lyon winger rejoins the national team after nearly a year out following recovery from a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury that kept him sidelined for over 12 months.

Defender Abdul Mumin of Rayo Vallecano is another notable inclusion after overcoming a lengthy ACL injury setback. Midfielder Augustine Boakye of Saint-Étienne and Alidu Seidu of Stade Rennes have also been recalled.

The squad further features highly-rated Paul Reverson, with the 20-year-old Ajax Amsterdam youngster earning a call-up for further assessment after impressing with the club’s youth side in the Netherlands.

The Black Stars are using the Cardiff camp to fine-tune preparations for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Ghana will begin their Group L campaign against Panama in Toronto before facing England and Croatia in Boston and Philadelphia respectively.
