Immediately, however, he requires specialist review, the club said on X, formerly Twitter.

“We can confirm that Mohammed Kudus has suffered a setback in his return from injury,” Tottenham Hotspur said on Thursday, April 9.

Fears of the Ghana playmaker not making it in time for the 2026 FIFA World Cup have swirled with many going back to the cause of his injury in January.

Kudus, who scored twice for Ghana at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, suffered a “quad injury” during Spurs’ game against Sunderland in January.

“He had returned to team training during the past week, however will now require further specialist review and, potentially, surgery,” Tottenham Hotspur said in the post confirming the latest setback.

The club promised to “provide any relevant further updates in due course”.
