Black Stars Head Coach Carlos Queiroz says he remains confident Ghana will emerge victorious in the return fixture between Ghana and Ivory Coast in Accra.
The Stars started their 2027 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers on a poor run, suffering a 2-0 defeat to Ivory Coast in their Group C opener at the Stade de Paix, Boakue, on Thursday, September 24.
Goals from Malick Yalcouye and skipper Franck Kessie in both halves were enough for the Elephants to stamp their supremacy over the four-time winners of the tournament.
Ghana will welcome The Gambia to the Accra Sports Stadium in their second group match on Tuesday, September 29, before locking horns with Morocco in an international friendly to climax the first round of the international break.
With the second international break set for November 9-17, the AFCON qualifiers will resume in all 12 groups as Ghana will welcome Ivory Coast to the Accra Sports Stadium in a highly anticipated match in March 2027.
Speaking in a post-match conference, Coach Queiroz said it will be the turn of his lads to prove their worth and triumph over their fellow West African giants.
“If Ivory Coast comes to Ghana, it will be our turn to win,” he said.
According to the Ex-Portuguese International, Ghana was on the better side in terms of attacking and creating opportunities, a statement that has left many Ghanaians questioning his system and football philosophy.
He added the defeat to Ivory Coast should be left behind, as they are keenly focused on winning their next game against Gambia on Tuesday at home.
“We need to recover and focus on winning the next game. The result will not kill our morale.” Queiroz added.
