After Zinabu Issah secured Ghana’s first medal, a historic silver in the Women’s Para Shot Put T57, attention now turns to athletics and boxing as the nation’s medal pursuit gathers momentum.
President of the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Ghana and the African Paralympic Committee, Samson Deen, has expressed confidence in Team Ghana’s performance, applauding the athletes for their resilience and determination while encouraging them to remain focused.

Amoah Targets Athletics Podium
All eyes will be on Joseph Paul Amoah when he lines up for the Men’s 200 metres final at 21:25 GMT.
The Ghanaian sprint star booked his place in the final after winning his opening heat in 20.36 seconds, continuing an impressive campaign in Glasgow.
Amoah enters the race with a personal best, season’s best and national record of 19.99 seconds, making him one of the strongest contenders in the field. A performance close to that mark could see him deliver another medal for Ghana.
With extensive experience on the international stage, the national record holder is expected to rely on his speed, composure and race management in what promises to be a fiercely contested final.
Boxing Medal Within Reach
Before the athletics final, Ghana’s hopes will rest on Amadu Mohammed, who competes in the Men’s 55kg semi-final at 15:30 GMT.
The Ghanaian boxer is just one victory away from reaching the final and securing at least a silver medal.
Under Commonwealth Games boxing rules, both losing semi-finalists receive bronze medals, meaning Mohammed has already moved within touching distance of another medal for Team Ghana.
Victory in the semi-final would guarantee him a place in the gold medal bout and keep alive Ghana’s hopes of climbing even higher on the medals table.
Busy Day Across Multiple Sports
Team Ghana’s campaign will also continue in cycling and judo.
Erica Sedzro opens the day’s programme in the Women’s Sprint Cycling event at 10:00 GMT, while Frema Adjei competes in the Women’s 57kg Judo competition at 12:00 GMT.
Cyclist Shaaban Mohammed is scheduled to compete twice, first in the Men’s 4000m event at 12:29 GMT before returning for the Men’s Keirin at 16:00 GMT.
