Title holders Cote d’Ivoire are among the six countries with perfect records at the halfway stage of the 2025 TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The Elephants are joined by record title holders Egypt, hosts Morocco and Algeria are the countries that have won all their matches after three matches played in the qualifying campaign.
DR Congo are also joined by Angola as the countries to amass maximum nine points in their various groups as Matchday Four of the qualifiers loom.
Below is a group-by-group summary of the TotalEnergies AFCON 2025 qualifiers: Matchday 3 and how the standings look after the halfway stage of the campaign:
Group A
Tunisia suffered a shocking 1-0 defeat at home to Comoros, with Rafiki Said’s second-half strike proving decisive. Despite dominating possession, Tunisia couldn’t find the back of the net. Comorosnow sit just one point behind Tunisia at the halfway mark. Gambia and Madagascar played out a 1-1 draw, both teams earning just their second points of the campaign. Tunisia remain top of the group with six points, while Gambia and Madagascar struggle at the bottom with two points each.
Group B
Morocco continued their perfect run, demolishing Central African Republic 5-0, with Azzedine Ounahi and Abde Ezzalzouli delivering outstanding performances. Morocco leads Group B with 9 points, far ahead of Gabon, who were held to a 0-0 draw by Lesotho. Gabon has 4 points and sits second, with Central African Republic third and Lesotho last with just a point.
Group C
Egypt secured a comfortable 2-0 win over Mauritania, maintaining their 100% record with 9 points and a flawless defensive record. Cape Verde fell to a 1-0 defeat against Botswana, leaving them and Botswana tied on three points. Mauritania remains bottom of the group with just one point. Egypt looks set to qualify, while the race for second remains open.
Group D
Nigeria left it late to defeat Libya 1-0, with substitute Fisayo Dele-Bashiru scoring in the 86th minute. Nigeria remains unbeaten at the top with 7 points, while Benin moved to second place after a 3-0 win over Rwanda. Libya remains at the bottom with just one point after three matches.
Group E
Algeria put in a dominant performance, thrashing Togo 5-1 with Said Benrahma netting a brace. Algeria now sits comfortably at the top with 9 points. Equatorial Guinea earned a crucial 1-0 win over Liberia to take second place. Togo and Liberia both face an uphill battle with just one and zero points, respectively.
Group F
Angola picked up a vital 2-0 victory over Niger to remain top of the group with 9 points. Ghana’s frustrating campaign continued with a 0-0 draw against Sudan, leaving them third with just two points. Sudan occupies second place with 4 points, while Niger is at the bottom with one point.
Group G
Cote d’Ivoire continued their fine form, winning 4-1 against Sierra Leone with Nicolas Pepe and Franck Kessié playing starring roles. The Elephants leads the group with 9 points, while Zambia played out a goalless draw with Chad and sits second with 4 points. Chad and Sierra Leoneremain winless in the group.
Group H
DR Congo maintained their perfect record with a 1-0 victory over Tanzania, keeping them at the top with 9 points. Guinea moved up to third place after a 4-1 thrashing of Ethiopia, with Serhou Guirassy scoring a hat-trick. Tanzania remains in second place with 4 points, while Ethiopia is last with just one point.
Group I
Mali picked up a narrow 1-0 win over Guinea-Bissau to top the group with 7 points. Mozambique was held to a 1-1 draw by Eswatini, allowing them to hold second place with 5 points. Guinea-Bissau has 3 points, while Eswatini remains last with just one point.
Group J
Cameroon showed their dominance with a 4-1 victory over Kenya, with Vincent Aboubakar opening the scoring. Cameroon now tops the group with 7 points, while Zimbabwe moved to second after a 1-0 win against Namibia. Kenya is third with 4 points, while Namibia is still looking for their first point.
Group K
South Africa demolished Congo 5-0 in a stunning display, with Teboho Mokoena scoring twice. Bafana Bafana moved level with Uganda at the top, both teams having 7 points, though South Africa’s superior goal difference keeps them in second. Congo remains third with 3 points, and South Sudan is last with zero points.
Group L
Senegal brushed aside Malawi 4-0 with goals from Sadio Mane, Pap Gueye, and Boulaye Dia. Senegal remains second with 7 points, behind group leaders Burkina Faso who won 4-1 against Burundi. Malawi remains bottom of the group after a winless start to the campaign.
