Newly promoted Ghana Premier League side Port City FC have announced the appointment of experienced tactician Christopher Ennin as the club’s new head coach ahead of the 2026-27 season.

The club confirmed the appointment on Monday, expressing confidence that Ennin’s vast coaching experience and leadership qualities will help guide the team through its maiden campaign in Ghana’s top flight.

Ennin arrives with an impressive coaching resume, having managed several clubs across Africa and Asia.

In Ghana, he has previously worked with Samartex 1996 FC and Berekum Chelsea, where he built a reputation for developing competitive teams and nurturing talented players.

Beyond Ghana, the coach has enjoyed spells in Thailand with Korat Mazda, Kamphaeng Phet and Rayong FC, gaining valuable international experience in different football environments.

He also managed Moneni Pirates in the Eswatini Premier League and further enhanced his coaching credentials through a stint in South Africa.

His return to Ghana marks his third coaching spell in the country, with City believing his extensive knowledge of the domestic game, combined with his international exposure, will be a major asset as the club prepares for life in the Premier League.

In a statement announcing the appointment, City welcomed Ennin to the club and highlighted their belief in his ability to lead the team’s ambitious project.

“We are delighted to announce the appointment of Christopher Ennin as the new Head Coach of our club,” the statement read.

The club added that Ennin’s experience, leadership and winning mentality would be instrumental as they embark on an exciting new chapter following their promotion to the Ghana Premier League.

City will be aiming to establish themselves among Ghana’s elite clubs during the upcoming season, and the appointment of an experienced coach is seen as a significant step towards achieving that objective.

Supporters have already begun welcoming Ennin, with expectations high that he can build a competitive side capable of making a strong impression in the club’s first season in the top flight.

The new head coach is expected to begin preparations immediately as City intensify plans for pre-season and squad building ahead of the start of the new Ghana Premier League campaign.
