Charles Bulu has been appointed to referee the third edition of the Democracy Cup between fierce rivals Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The high-profile fixture is scheduled for Friday, August 28, 2026, at 4:00 p.m., with Ghana’s two most decorated clubs set to renew their rivalry in a match celebrating the country’s democratic journey.

Bulu will be supported by Seth Abletor and Richard Nartey as Assistant Referees, while Julian Nunoo has been named Fourth Referee.

The Democracy Cup is being staged to commemorate 32 years of parliamentary democracy in Ghana, adding a civic dimension to one of the most anticipated encounters on the domestic football calendar.

With Kotoko and Hearts sharing one of Ghana football’s fiercest rivalries, the fixture promises another competitive chapter between the two giants when they meet in Kumasi.
