Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has delivered a strong message of support and encouragement to Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars, ahead of their opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup against Panama.
Leading a high-level Ghanaian delegation, the Vice President met with the players and technical team as they wrapped up preparations for the global tournament. She conveyed the goodwill and best wishes of John Dramani Mahama, the Government of Ghana, and millions of Ghanaians who will be cheering the team on from home and across the world.

The delegation included representatives of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, led by Daasebre Otuo Siriboe II, officials from Ghana’s diplomatic mission headed by Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh, as well as executives of the Ghana Football Association led by Kurt Edwin Simeon Okraku.
Addressing the squad, Vice President Opoku-Agyemang reaffirmed the faith and confidence Ghanaians have in the team. She urged the players to wear the national colours with pride and represent Ghana with determination, discipline, and excellence on football’s biggest stage.


Her visit served as a significant morale boost for the Black Stars as they prepare to begin their World Cup campaign, carrying the hopes of an entire nation eager to see Ghana make a strong impression at the tournament.
On behalf of President Mahama and the people of Ghana, the Vice President wished the players, coaching staff, and officials success throughout the competition, expressing confidence that the team has what it takes to make the nation proud.
