Carlos Queiroz has confirmed Brandon Thomas-Asante as a late addition to Ghana’s Black Stars squad for the opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The Coventry City forward was initially omitted from Queiroz’s 24-man squad but has been called up after Prince Adu Kwabena was ruled out with a head injury sustained while playing for Viktoria Plzen.
Thomas-Asante’s inclusion comes after further changes to Ghana’s squad, with Mohammed Kudus also withdrawing to continue his recovery in England.
The 27-year-old was part of Ghana’s squad at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and provided the assist for Caleb Yirenkyi’s winning goal against Panama.
He is expected to join the Black Stars ahead of Thursday’s qualifier against Côte d’Ivoire in Bouaké.
Ghana will then host The Gambia on 29 September before facing Morocco in an international friendly in Tangier on 4 October.
Thomas-Asante’s late inclusion gives Queiroz another attacking option as the Black Stars begin their campaign for a place at the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
