The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has scrapped referee fees for Colts clubs ahead of the 2026/27 season, in a move aimed at easing the financial pressure on grassroots teams.
GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku announced the decision during the launch of the new Colts season at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram on Tuesday, September 15.
“We have introduced several interventions to reduce the financial burden on Colts clubs and make participation more accessible,” he said.
The GFA has also introduced free player registration and digital licences for up to 90 players per club, covering the U-13, U-15 and U-17 categories.
With referee charges and player registration costs removed, Colts clubs enter the new season with reduced financial obligations as the GFA seeks to widen participation at grassroots level.
