Ghanaian forward Mohammed Sofo netted his first goal of the season in the MLS after climbing off the bench to seal victory for New York Red Bulls in the 4-2 win over FC Cincinnati.
The 21-year-old who came on with ten minutes remaining finished off brilliantly after receiving a pass from compatriot Ronald Donkor in injury time.
Sofo dummied his marker after a quick step-over before firing with his left to net Red Bulls’ fourth at the Sports Illustrated Stadium.
Having began the season with an injury, Sofo was only making his third appearance for Michael Bradley’s men.
Meanwhile, in an electric start to the game, Julian Hall opened the scoring just 15 minutes into the match but the visitors responded three minutes later through Pavel Bucha.
Captain Emil Forsberg restored home side’s lead four minutes after half time before Kyle Smith extended the advantage via an unfortunate own-goal.
However, Cincinnati reduced the deficit again with Smith redeeming himself to set up an interesting final.
Coach Bradley replaced Jorge Ravulcaba with Sofo, and the Ghanaian repaid the former America USMNT star with a sensational goal.
