Ghanaian football fans will be able to follow every moment of the 2026 FIFA World Cup live after the government confirmed that broadcasting rights for the tournament have been secured.
Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Iddie Adams disclosed the development on Tuesday during a ceremony marking a GH¢5 million donation from GCB Bank PLC toward the national support campaign for the Ghana national football team.
According to the minister, the successful acquisition of the broadcast rights was made possible through collaborative government support and an ongoing fundraising initiative aimed at backing the Black Stars ahead of the global tournament.
“Through the support of government and fundraising efforts, we have been able to secure broadcast rights to telecast the World Cup matches live on some of the media stations,” he said.
The contribution from GCB Bank forms part of broader efforts to generate financial and corporate backing for Ghana’s preparations toward the competition, which will be jointly hosted by United States, Canada and Mexico.
Government recently launched a nationwide fundraising campaign designed to rally institutions, businesses and supporters behind the Black Stars as preparations intensify for the tournament.
Ghana will be making its fifth appearance at the World Cup and has been drawn into Group L alongside England national football team, Croatia national football team and Panama national football team.
The Black Stars are scheduled to begin their campaign against Panama in Toronto on June 17 before facing England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.
As part of preparations for the tournament, Ghana will also play international friendlies against Mexico national football team later this month before concluding their pre-World Cup build-up with a final warm-up match against Wales national football team on June 2.
