Accra Hearts of Oak SC and Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare says criticism and public scrutiny do not affect him as he continues to establish himself at the highest level of Ghana football.

Speaking in an interview with 3Sports, Asare acknowledged that opinions and criticism are part of life as an international player and insists he remains focused on his development.

“They say it always, but it’s their opinion. The moment you reach this level, people will say a lot of things,” he said.

The goalkeeper also pointed out that even some of the world’s best shot-stoppers concede goals, stressing that mistakes and criticism are unavoidable in football.

“Although by God’s grace I’ve reached this level, some of these players also play against top goalkeepers who even concede. So how much more me, now making strides thanks to God,” Asare explained.

Despite external pressure, the Hearts of Oak shot-stopper revealed that negative comments rather serve as motivation for him to keep improving.

“No, it doesn’t bother me; it rather encourages me because not everyone makes it to this level,” he added.

Asare has continued to grow in prominence following his performances for Accra Hearts of Oak SC, earning recognition at national team.
