The Ghana Football Association, in partnership with FIFA, has brought together Women’s Premier League stakeholders for a one-day workshop focused on unlocking the commercial potential of women’s football in Ghana.
Held at the Alisa Hotel in Accra on Thursday, September 3, the workshop was themed “From the Pitch to Profit: Building a Commercial Future for the Women’s Premier League.”
GFA Executive Council Member Dr Gifty Oware-Mensah reaffirmed the association’s commitment to investing in the women’s game, saying the goal is to make Ghanaian women’s football “the envy of many in Africa and across the globe.”

The workshop, described as the first of its kind in Africa, forms part of FIFA’s Commercial Strategy framework and brought together representatives of all 20 Women’s Premier League clubs, Regional Football Associations, sponsors, media and football administrators.
Sessions focused on digital marketing, league branding, sponsorship development, content strategy, fan engagement and emerging commercial opportunities. GFA General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo also addressed club content systems and enforcement.

The event was spearheaded by FIFA Women’s Football Technical Expert Doreen Nabwire and FIFA Technical Expert Tomas Melo Correa.

COP Lydia Donkor, Director-General of the Ghana Police Service’s CID, served as Special Guest of Honour.

The initiative is designed to help clubs improve visibility, strengthen their commercial appeal and develop sustainable revenue streams. Participants received certificates at the close of the workshop.
