The Ghana Football Association has outlined a significant investment package aimed at strengthening Colts football and improving the development environment for young players across Ghana.
The GFA has invested GHS 1.8 million over the past two seasons to train 600 Colts coaches through its CAF Licence D Coaching Programme, with the three-year initiative targeting 900 coaches.
The Association has also committed US$100,000 annually towards footballs for Colts clubs, alongside further investment in young referees through the Catch Them Young Refereeing Programme.
Speaking at the launch of the 2026/27 Colts Football Season at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram on Tuesday, September 15, GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku said the investment in coaches goes beyond technical development.
“It is about ensuring that the young player who walks onto a Colts pitch encounters a coach who understands technique, player development, safeguarding, discipline and the responsibility that comes with shaping a child’s future,” he said.
The investment forms part of the GFA’s broader efforts to strengthen grassroots football and build a structured pathway for young players in Ghana.
